Minister of Information and Culture, Lai Mohammed, in a statement issued in Lagos on Tuesday, said the country is proud to be associated with the new boxing world champion, especially as he has always publicly acknowledged his Nigerian heritage despite the fact that he is a UK citizen.
Recall that last week’s FEC meeting was presided over by Vice President Yemi Osinbajo, instead of President Muhammadu Buhari, fuelling speculations that the President was ill.
Lai Mohammed said: “I just want to make this clear, Mr President is in town. Mr President is attending to other issues. Mr President looked at the agenda, it was a very light agenda and decided that the vice-president should preside.”
The federal government has reassured Nigerians that there was no going back on its current anti-corruption campaign despite the few losses recorded so far in some cases that had been charged to court.
Minister of Information and Culture, Lai Mohammed, in a statement issued by his special assistant on media and publicity, Segun Adeyemi on Monday, described the report as fiction and another example of disinformation that has permeated the media space, especially the social media.
