The NUJ called on the Inspector General of Police,IGP, Ibrahim Idris, to deploy all necessary resources at his disposal to apprehend the killers of the journalist and bring them to justice.
The protesting journalists charged the State government to ensure security of lives and property in the state, while urging the police to fish out the killers of their colleague.
The Nigerian Union of Journalists, NUJ, and the Socio-Economic Rights and Accountability Project, SERAP have appealed to the United Nation’s Special Rapporteur on the promotion and protection of the right to freedom of opinion and expression, David Kaye, to prevail on the federal government to end the ongoing intimidation and harassment of journalists.
