In spite of various reports of complicity and partisanship against the Nigerian Police and other security agencies in last Saturday’s Rivers State legislative re-run election, the Inspector General of Police, IGP, Ibrahim Idris, has expressed satisfaction over the performance of the police officers that took part in the election.
A drama of sorts played out on the floor of the Nigerian Senate on Wednesday when one of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, lawmakers from Ondo State announced that he was defecting to the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC.
Incumbent governor of Ondo State, Olusegun Mimiko, of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP has sent a congratulatory message to the Rotimi Akeredolu, the winner of the governorship election held in the state last Saturday.
The Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, has said that it rejects the result of the Ondo State governorship election held last Saturday and wants the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, to cancel the exercise.
