Repentant Boko Haram fighters have called on their former colleagues who are still in the Sambisa forest to surrender their arms to military authorities and embrace peace.
Lucky Irabor, a Major General and the Theatre Commander of the counter-insurgency operation of the Nigerian military in the North East codenamed “Operation Lafiya Dole”, has disclosed that the Army arrested a total 1,240 suspected Boko Haram terrorists after the capture of Sambisa forest, the major stronghold of the insurgents.
The Theatre commander of the military operation in the North East, ‘Operation Lafiya Dole’ has said that troops have rescued 605 persons from the captivity of Boko Haram in the last one week.
The Nigerian military has said that the ongoing counter-terrorism operations going on in the North East is nearing its end as the Boko Haram terrorists are in total disarray while troops are currently in the heart of the Sambisa Forest which is the operational base of the terrorists.
