The Nigeria Union of Petroleum and Natural Gas Workers, NUPENG, and the Petroleum and Natural Gas Senior Staff Association of Nigeria, PENGASSAN, have commended the Nigerian Senate for the passage of the Petroleum Industry Governance Bill, PIGB.
The PIB seeks to introduce reforms that would engender transparency and accountability, while at the same time making the oil and gas sector more business-oriented and profit-driven.
Minister of State for Petroleum, Ibe Kachikwu, has revealed the ministry’s plans for Nigeria’s Petroleum sector in 2017, assuring that the Petroleum Industry Bill, PIB, will be passed into law and the nation’s refineries revamped.
The highly anticipated Petroleum Industry Bill, PIB, has passed the second reading at the floor of the Nigerian Senate. The bill was subsequently referred to the senate committee on petroleum (upstream and downstream) for more legislative work.
Speaker of the Federal House of Representatives, Yakubu Dogara, has promised that the he would work together with his colleagues in the green chamber of the national assembly to pass the Petroleum Industry Bill, PIB, in order to enhance and ensure better oil exploration and production in the country.
