A demonstration by youths protesting the killing of a Monarch in Bokkos Local Government Area of Plateau state turned violent when soldiers opened fire at the crowd who blocked the road and prevented vehicular traffic.
The Police Service Commission, PSC, has approved the promotion of 18 Police officers to the rank of Assistant Inspectors-General of Police, AIGs; while 37 others have been promoted to the rank of Commissioners of Police. Nine officers were also made Deputy Commissioners of Police.
The Nigeria Police Force says it has continued to record successes in the operations to rid the country of dangerous gangs specializing in armed robbery and kidnapping, especially in Kogi State and its environs.
