A Court of Appeal sitting in Port Harcourt has upheld the report of a panel of inquiry set up by Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Wike, to investigate his immediate predecessor and current Minister of Transportation, Rotimi Amaechi.
Amaechi said that the actual contract amount for the dredging of the River Niger as approved by former President Jonathan, was N47 billion but N34 billion was released to the contractor.
The President made the call while declaring open the 3rd Conference of the Association of Heads of African Maritime Administration, AAMA, in Abuja on Thursday.
“It is impossible, probably treasonable, that a security agency will be carrying out covert operations without the knowledge of the sitting president and commander-in-chief of the armed forces.”
The Rivers State governor insisted that the money should be returned to the Rivers State government within seven days or the state will take the matter to court.
