The Inspector-General of Police, IGP, Ibrahim Idris has set up a special investigation panel to look into the alleged cases of sexual abuses and exploitation of Internally Displaced Persons, IDP, by government officials in charge of the various camps in the Northeast.
Governor Kashim Shettima of Borno State has said that he would approach the appropriate government agencies to request for undercover female policemen in order to unravel the allegations of sexual abuse by government officials working in the various Internally Displace Persons, IDP, camps in the state.
The Nigerian government is not doing enough to protect displaced women and girls from sexual abuse and exploitation from officials in charge of Internally Displaced Persons camps across the Northeast region of the country.
