Tinubu appoints new NSIPA coordinator, 7 months after suspending predecessor over alleged mismanagement

PRESIDENT Bola Tinubu has appointed Badamasi Lawal as the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the National Social Investment Programme Agency (NSIPA) seven months after the suspension of the former head of the agency, Halima Shehu.

This was disclosed in a statement on Tuesday , August 6, by the president’s spokesperson, Ajuri Ngelale.

According to Ngelale. Lawal is a former commissioner for local government and chieftaincy affairs in Katsina State.

He takes over from Shehu, who was placed on administrative leave by the President due to alleged financial mismanagement.

The ICIR reported in January that the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) arrested and detained  Shehu over N37.1 billion allegedly laundered in the Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs, under former Minister Sadiya Umar-Farouk.

Following her suspension, Tinubu instructed the national N-Power programme manager, Akindele Egbuwalo, to step in as acting manager while investigations were ongoing into her alleged infractions.
