The Nigerian Army says its troops on Monday killed a Boko Haram member who had terrorised members of Kwatarha and Torikwaptir areas of Gwoza local government area of Borno State. An AK-47 rifle was reportedly recovered from him.

A statement issued by army spokesperson, Usman Sani, stated that four other members of the group might have escaped with gunshot wounds.

Another high ranking member of Boko Haram, Tijjani Usman Damagun, was also arrested when troops from 3 Division tracked him to the town of Damagun in Yobe State.

Damagun, whom the army said is undergoing interrogation and would be arraigned soon, is said to be responsible for several attacks in the state.
