The University of Benin, UNIBEN, governing council has appointed Osasere Orumwense, a professor of Material Engineering, as the new vice chancellor of the institution.

Orumwense will take the mantle of leadership from the current vice chancellor, Osayuki Oshodin, whose tenure expires in November, 2014.

Orumwense, was until his appointment, dean, Faculty of Engineering of the institution.

‎The newly appointed vice chancellor had in the past served as Rector of the state-owned Institute of Management Technology, IMT, Usen and also as administrator of the Ekehuan Campus of the institution.
