We Will Lead Revolution To Rebuild Nigeria – Osibajo

Yemi Osibajo, the newly announced running mate to the All Progressive Congress, APC, presidential candidate, Muhammadu Buhari, has said that no other person is better placed to lead the effort to rebuild Nigeria than the retired general and has committed to joining hands with him in that task.

In his acceptance speech delivered after he was publicly presented to the nation by the APC presidential candidate on Wednesday, Osibajo thanked Buhari and other party leaders for the trust reposed in him, stating that the task of rebuilding the nation was one to which he was fully committed.

“There can be no other president, leader and commander to lead that common sense revolution that Nigeria urgently needs than Muhammadu Buhari. I will proudly serve this country with him,” Osibajo stated.

“I will work with him and the party to restore hope and confidence in millions of our youth, and provide comfort and security for millions of our country men and women,” he assured.

Presenting his running mate at a press conference at the party’s national secretariat in Abuja on Wednesday, Buhari stated that he had “chosen a man of unimpeachable integrity, impeccable honesty, an excellent professional, a man of faith, a devoted family man, and a role model to our fellow countrymen and -women.”

Describing his running mate as a man of uncommon humility, a loyal, dependable, and selfless patriot, Buhari pledged to work with him to run an efficient government, fight corruption and indiscipline in the nation

Speaking on the process through which Osibajo emerged, Buhari said that “the methods employed in the choice of a running mate was quite meticulous and rigorous.”

“It involved the establishment of objective criteria, broad consultations with party leaders and a few opinion leaders outside the party. It also involved interactions with a number of nominees,” he explained further.

Osinbajo, a professor of Law, is a Senior Advocate of Nigeria SAN, and was head of department of Public Law at the University of Lagos from 1997 to 1999.

He studied at the University of Lagos and the London School of Economics and Political Science obtaining the LLB and LLM degrees respectively.



    He was special adviser to the Attorney General of Nigeria from 1988 to 1992, and later became the Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice of Lagos State in 1999 and was reappointed for a second term in 2003.

    Buhari’s running mate has served in various capacities within the United Nations community, including the United Nations Centre on Transnational Corporations, the United Nations African Institute for Crime Prevention, the International Criminal court for Rwanda in Arusha, Tanzania, and the United Nations Peace Operations in Somalia.

    He is also a cleric at the Redeemed Christian Church of God, RCCG, and the resident pastor of the Olive Tree parish of the church in Banana Island, Lagos.

    The presidential elections scheduled for February 14, 2015 are less than two months away.
