10 Killed, 15 Injured In Taraba

Unknown gunmen on Tuesday killed 10 people, inflicted grave injuries on 15 others and burnt down 20 houses in Jibu village in Wukari local government area of Taraba State.

Spokesman of the state police command, Joseph Kwaji, an assistant supcrintendent of Police, told newsmen in Jalingo that the suspected assailants killed every one they saw in the area irrespective of the ethnicity and region.




     

     

    “Yes, I can confirm to you that at about 5 a.m. today (Tuesday), a group of Jukun youths stormed Jibu village, opened fire at the inhabitants and killed 10 people,’’ he said.

    Kwaji also disclosed that a joint patrol of mobile police and military had been deployed to intensify security in the area.

    He, therefore, appealed to people in the area to stay calm, assuring that security personnel were on top of the situation.

    He also assured members of the community that the perpetrators of the attack would be brought to book.
