In what appeared to be a spike in attacks on soft targets by insurgents in the North east, there has been another suicide bomb attack on a Mosque in Jimeta, Adamawa State, just hours after a similar attack on a mosque in Maiduguri, Borno State.
The latest attack occurred during Friday prayers at a mosque in the Jambutu area, one of the most populated area of Jimeta, a surburb of Yola, leaving at least 15 killed and scores injured.
Jambutu, one of the crowded settlements in the Adamawa state capital, suffered the bomb explosion inside a newly repainted mosque which hosts hundreds of worshipers during Jumaat prayers.
It was learnt that the suicide bomber posed as and mingled with other worshippers who had gathered to pray at the mosque which was opening for the first time after it was repainted.
Health and Emergency have evacuated victims to the Specialist Hospital in Jimeta and Federal Medical Centre in Yola.
