Business Reporting Project

The business reporting project is dedicated to strengthening the capabilities of business journalists across Nigeria by providing comprehensive training in areas such as business, manufacturing, finance, banking, and international trade. The overarching goal is to cultivate proficient business reporters who can contribute to the enhancement of the Nigerian economy and foster robust partnerships between the private sector, the ICIR, and the Dangote Group, as the project expands to other regions across Nigeria.

This initiative, set to be conducted in Nigeria’s six geopolitical zones, commenced its pilot phase in the Southeast region, beginning with a two-day session in Enugu State. Participants expressed enthusiasm upon reviewing the meticulously crafted learning schedules and curriculum, alongside the impressive expertise of the facilitators. The sessions proved to be highly engaging and interactive, introducing participants to innovative approaches beyond traditional business and finance reporting, while also enhancing their understanding of investigative reporting methodologies, particularly in uncovering prejudices, corruption, and bias. Practical sessions allowed participants to apply their newfound knowledge under the guidance of facilitators, fostering a conducive environment for continuous learning and skill development.
