Buhari’s first term in power has been characterised by several abroad trips, many of them for medical purposes.
Between May 2015 and May 2018 Buhari set a new record to become the Nigerian President to have spent most days on medical travels outside the country, having spent 172 days as against former President Umaru Yar’Adua’s 109 days between May 2007 and May 2010.
In June 2016, Buhari took a 10-day medical leave to treat a “persistent ear infection” in London, but he ended up spending 14 days.
