Unknown gunmen on Saturday kidnapped the younger sister of the Bayelsa State governor, Seriake Dickson, whose name was given as Nancy Dickson.
Nancy, 26, was kidnapped at her shop in Okaka Road, Yenagoa, the state capital on Saturday.
Spokesman for Bayelsa Police Command, Asinim Butswat, an Assistant Superintendent of Police, ASP, confirmed the abduction to journalists on Sunday in a statement sent to journalists.
The gunmen were said to have driven to Nancy’s shop in an ash colored Lexus SUV and forcefully taken her away at about 2.60 pm on Saturday.
The Police spokesman said that the command has since mounted a stop and search operation at different points in Yenagoa to track down the kidnappers.
There was still no trace of the kidnappers or their victim as at the time of filing this report.
Kidnappings in Baylsa State has become commonplace in the last few months despite the presence of Operation Door Akpo, the state security outfit.
