Ese Oruru, the 14 year old teenager kidnapped in Bayelsa State about seven months ago who finally returned to her home in Yenagoa on Wednesday night is now under police protective custody.

The teenager who was recently rescued by the police from her abductor, Yunusa Dahiru, in Kano was reunited with her mother in Abuja before being flown to Yenagoa on the order of the Inspector General of Police, Solomon Arase.

Our reporter learnt from Police sources in the Bayelsa State capital that upon arrival in Yenagoa, she was received by the state Police Commissioner, Peter Ogunyanwo and put in protective custody at the Officers’ Mess in the state command headquarters.

For her friends, classmates and teachers at the Opolo Community Secondary School in Yenagoa, it was joyful news when the school opened on Thursday. They expressed happiness at her rescue and returning home, saying that they are eager to welcome her back.

A teacher in the school, Janet Wariebi, said that Ese’s classmates would be glad to have her back.
“Yes, her classmate are also waiting to see her again, we thank God for her safety; my advice to the children (female) is that, they should not be carried away by what they see,” she said.

One of Ese’s classmates, Veronica Opokumo, who described her as an easy going, pleasant and friendly girl, said the entire school had been praying for her safety.

“We believe she will be joining us soon because this is what we have been praying for; now she is back in good health, we are awaiting her, all her friends in school have been anxious, we are happy that she came back, we are waiting for her, she is a pleasant girl and my good friend, what happened to her was unfortunate and we feel for her.” Opokumo said.

Ese’s class teacher, Douye Arise, said in Yenagoa on Thursday that the teenager’s return home was hearth warming as the whole school had followed her travails with interest.
