President Muhammadu Buhari has declared his intention to seek re-election in 2019.
Buhari made the announcement at the National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting of the All Progressives Congress (APC) on Monday in Abuja, putting to bed speculations over his possible plans.
The information was published on the official Twitter handle of the office of the President.
“President Buhari has just announced his intention to seek the presidential ticket of the All Progressives Congress (APC) and contest for a second term of Office in the 2019 elections,” the tweet read.

Also, Nasir El-Rufai, Governor of Kaduna State, posted a similar tweet, saying: “BREAKING NEWS: PMB has just announced to APC NEC his intention to run for a second term of office. Alhamdulillah.”

The President will be travelling to the United Kingdom later on Monday for an official visit to Britain, prior to the Commonwealth Heads of Government Meetings scheduled for April 18 to 20.
