Gbajabiamila elected for sixth time into House of Reps

FEMI Gbajabiamila has won re-election for the sixth time to represent the Surulere 2, Lagos, Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives.

The results were declared at INEC’s collation centre in Surulere on Sunday evening.

The House of Representatives won 19,717 votes, while his closest opponent, Jeje of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), came second with 5,121 votes.

Mathew Idowu of the Social Democratic Party (SDP) had 838 votes, Benedicta Uba of Zenith Labour Party (ZLP) had 660 votes, Ademola Oshinaya of New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) had 623 votes, and Lumumba Savage of Party A had 337 votes.

The INEC returning officer, Virgy Ebere Chukwu Onyene, announced that Gbajabiamila, of the All Progressives Congress, had satisfied the requirements of the law and scored the highest number of votes, thereby declaring him the winner of the election.

This marks his sixth consecutive election victory since he was first elected to the House of Representatives in 2003 to represent the Surulere II Federal Constituency.
