In a move that took many people by surprise, the governor of Borno State, Kashim Shettima, on Friday sacked all the commissioners and aides that constitute the state executive council.
A statement signed by the secretary to the state government, Baba Ahmed Jidda, simply said that the governor had approved the immediate dissolution of the state cabinet.No reason was given for the action.
Jidda instructed that all commissioner, special advisers, senior special assistant and special assistant currently serving the administration are forthwith relieved of their jobs.
All commissioners were asked to handover the affairs of their ministries to their respective permanent secretaries as well as return their official vehicles and other government properties in their possession.
The statement conveyed governor Shettima’s appreciation to them for their dedication, selfless service and sense of patriotism in supporting him to serve the people of Borno State under the most difficult condition.
