SELF-ACCLAIMED activist, Martins Otse, widely known as VeryDarkMan, has revealed how he got the controversial call recording containing bribery allegations by popular cross-dresser, Idris Okuneye, known as Bobrisky, against the Economic Financial and Crimes Commission (EFCC) officials.
He made the revelation on Monday, September 30, before a House of Representatives panel investigating the case.
According to him, the audio was given to him by someone whom Bobrisky owed money. He confirmed the authenticity of the audio recording and submitted part of it to the committee.
When he was first invited to the podium by the investigating committee, he refused to speak due to Bobrisky’s absence.
“I don’t know why I will be here and the person who made these allegations is not here. Bobrisky said in the voice note that there is a godfather. Maybe the godfather told him not to come. He has disrespected this committee by not coming here.
“You are already threatening me with arrest. If you detain me, I will stay in the cell. If Bobrisky is not here, I will not say anything. If I say anything, let me die,” he told the panel.
Meanwhile, Bobrisky’s lawyer, Avwerosuoghene Omuvwie told the committee that his client could not honour the invitation due to illness.
When the committee requested a medical report from Bobrisky’s doctor, the lawyer said he had no such document.
Officials of the EFCC and the Nigerian Correctional Service (NCoS) were also present as the committees on financial crimes and reformatory institutions commenced an investigation into allegations of bribery and corruption levelled against the anti-graft agency and the Nigerian Correctional Service by VeryDarkman.
The ICIR reported that VeryDarkMan shared a video on social media stating that Bobrisky claimed he bribed some officers of the EFCC 15 with million naira to drop the money laundering charges against him.
Recall in April, The ICIR reported that Bobrisky was arrested and detained by the EFCC in Lagos and was sentenced to six months without an option of a fine for abusing the Nigerian naira.
However, in August, he regained freedom and was released from the Kirirki Correctional Centre. Upon his release, he urged Nigerians to desist from spraying the naira, the offence that took him to jail.
