THE Ogun State Police Command on Wednesday announced the arrest of Yakubu AbdulMumuni, one of the inmates that escaped from the Kuje Prison in Abuja when the facility was attacked by insurgents on July 5.
Public Relations Officer (PRO) of the Command Abimbola Oyeyemi announced the arrest in a statement.

Oyeyemi said the suspect was arrested in Sango-Ota in the Ado-Odo/Ota Local Government Area of Ogun State.
“The escapee, 28-year-old Yakubu AbdulMumuni, was arrested following information received by policemen at Sango-Ota divisional headquarters that the convict was sighted somewhere around Sango-Ota.
“Upon the information, the DPO Sango-Ota division, SP Saleh Dahiru, quickly mobilised his men and moved to the area where the convict was apprehended,” he said.
According to the statement, AbdulMumuni admitted that he escaped the Kuje Prison during the jailbreak.
He also explained that he was remanded in the prison after being convicted for conspiracy and culpable homicide in Kogi State.
Oyeyemi disclosed that the suspect would be returned to the Kuje Prison immediately.
Hundreds of inmates escaped the Kuje Prison on Tuesday, July 5, following an attack on the facility by members of the Islamic State West Africa Province (ISWAP).
