Kuje jailbreak: NDLEA arrests fleeing terror suspect with drugs in Abuja

THE National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) says its operatives have arrested one of the wanted terror suspects that escaped from the Kuje Prison following last week’s attack on the facility by insurgents.

According to a statement by Femi Babafemi, Director of Media and Advocacy, Suleiman Sidi, the fleeing terror suspect, was arrested in the early hours of Monday, July 11, at Area 1 Motor Park in the Federal Capital Territory while attempting to board a commercial vehicle to Maiduguri, Borno State.

“When he was searched, three wraps of Cannabis Sativa were found on him.




     

     

    “During preliminary interview, the wanted terror suspect confirmed he was remanded at the Kuje Correctional Centre for terrorism and robbery charges, adding that he was indeed one of the inmates who escaped from the facility last Tuesday,” the NDLEA said.

    The statement further disclosed that NDLEA chairman Mohamed Buba Marwa has directed that the wanted suspect should be immediately handed over to the Nigerian Correctional Service (NCoS).

    A total of 69 terror suspects escaped from the Kuje prison last when the facility was attacked.
