Kingsley Moghalu fails to get ADC presidential ticket, loses to Kachikwu

Founder and Chief Executive Officer of Roots TV Nigeria, Dumebi Kachikwu, has emerged as the presidential candidate of the African Democratic Congress (ADC).

The 48 years old media entrepreneur defeated Kingsley Moghalu and Chukwuka Monye at the party’s presidential primary election, which held in Abeokuta on June 9.

Kachikwu scored 977 votes to defeat Moghalu, who came second with 589 votes. Monye came third with 339 votes.

Moghalu, a former deputy governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) contested the 2019 presidential election.

Monye, a business executive, said he will continue to work towards rescuing the country.




     

     

    “I appreciate Prof. Moghalu and other credible aspirants for a spirited fight even though we didn’t make it. The fight to rescue this country from the brink of disaster is still on. Monye is committed to this. We will communicate who we will support,” he said.

    The ADC presidential candidate, Dumebi Kachikwu, is a younger brother of the former Minister of State for Petroleum Resources, Ibe Kachikwu.

    He was arrested by the Economic Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) in 2015 over an allegation levelled against him by a member of the House of Representatives, Ndudi Elumelu.

    Elumelu reportedly alleged that Kachikwu demanded and received the sum of N750 million from him under false pretenses.
