Nigerian Troops have killed two Boko Haram terrorists and captured two others in raids conducted on hideouts of the sect in Sambisa and Alagarno forests.
According to a release by the Acting Director Army Public Relations, Sani Kukasheka Usman, a Colonel, soldiers from the 81 Battalion and 251 Task Force Battalion patrol team, in the last few days have cleared Boko Haram camps located at Komala, Dole, Kumshi and Moadori around Alagarno forest.
Apart from the killed and captured insurgents, vehicles, motocycles and a stockpile of food and petrol were recovered from them.
“The troops killed 2 Boko Haram terrorists and captured 2 notorious terrorists; Mustapha Busuru (50 years old) and Usman Abubakar (56 years) at Dole village and brought down all Boko Haram terrorist flags hoisted in the village and destroyed them. They also recovered 2 Toyota pickup vans, 40 motorcycles, Improvised Explosives Making Devices (IEDs), stockpile of foodstuffs and fuel dump. The patrol team also recovered horses and donkeys used for transportation by the terrorists.
The army spokesman also said that following a distress call form villagers in Kuda, Borno State, troops of 143 Battalion swung into action but met the village razed by the insurgents who had fled.
“The escaped insurgents regrouped and attempted to cross through Magar bridge but they were pre-empted by elements of the Battalion who killed 2 terrorists and wounded several others. Sadly, 3 soldiers and 4 locals sustained injuries, while the troops recovered 1 Toyota Buffalo vehicle mounted with an Anti-Aircraft Gun with registration number 081375, one General Purpose Machine Gun (GPMG) with registration number 132042, a loaded G3 rifle magazine and 30 rounds of 7.62mm (NATO) ammunitions link,” he said.
According to him, injured civilians and soldiersare receiving treatment at the unit’s Regimental Aid Post.
Kukasheka also disclosed that troops laid an ambush for Boko Haram fighters at two crossing points at Komala and Musafanari on the way to Sambisa Forest, where two insurgents were killed while others escaped with gunshot wounds.
“The ambush party decisively dealt with some terrorists on motorcycles in which a number of terrorists were killed and a few others flee with gunshot wounds. The troops recovered one AK45 rifle with registration number 56-2614519, in addition to a magazine containing 9 rounds of 7.62mm (Special), 6 motorcycles, 2 bags of salt and other assorted food items as well as various Improvised Explosive Making Devices (IEDs).”
