The Speaker of the Ondo State House of Assembly, Samuel Adesina, is dead.
Secretary to the State Government, SSG, Rotimi Adelola, made the announcement on Tuesday in Akure.
Adesina, who represented Odigbo Constituency II in the House died in the early hours of Tuesday after a protracted battle with cancer of the urinary bladder at the age of 52.
The statement described the late Speaker as a bridge builder, a man of integrity and a reliable team player who placed the interest of the state above personal considerations.
“The Ondo State Government received the news with rude shock and disbelief. We commiserate with the family of the late Speaker, the state legislature and the entire people of the state over this irreparable loss,” the statement said.
