Peter Obi to supporters: Don’t attack people with different views

PRESIDENTIAL Candidate of the Labour Party (LP) Peter Obi has appealed to his supporters to refrain from attacking people with different views on the 2023 presidential election.

Many individuals have called on Obi to caution his supporters, especially on the social media, from hurling insults at anybody who does not seem to be on the same page with them.

Reacting to the issue in a statement posted on his verified Twitter handle on Sunday, Obi urged his supporters to be tolerant.

“I sincerely thank my supporters for believing in me and my commitment to building a united, secure and well-functioning Nigeria. However, I appeal once more that we should be tolerant of other people’s views, dissent and divergent opinions and possibly learn from them,” Obi said.

He enjoined them to rather channel the energy towards earning support and collaboration from other people especially on sustainable nation-building.

“While the frustration and anger in the country is understandable, we must strive to channel that energy positively in ways that will earn the support and collaboration of others.

“Even as our message continues to gain broad acceptance, there are some we still need to work to convince. In expressing ourselves, we should do so with grace so as not to precipitately shut doors to future collaborations on sustainable nation-building.”
