President Muhammadu Buhari has withdrawn the name of Ahmed Isa Ibeto, representing Niger State from the list of ministerial nominees he sent to the Senate.
Senate President Bukola Saraki confirmed the withdrawal notice of the former Niger State deputy governor on the floor of the Senate on Wednesday.
Saraki said the withdrawal was contained in a letter President Buhari sent to the Senate, adding that no reason was given for the action.
There been some controversy over Ibeto’s nomination as there had already been a nominee, Abubakar Bawa, from Niger State.
Following the withdrawal, the Senate will now have 36 ministerial nominees to screen with 11 candidates already cleared, including former Lagos State governor Babatunde Fashola, as at the time of filing this report.
