Presidential election: Peter Obi defeats Tinubu in Lagos

PRESIDENTIAL candidate of the Labour Party (LP) Peter Obi has emerged victorious in Lagos, the home state of the All Progressives Congress (APC) flagbearer , Bola Tinubu.

Despite Tinubu winning in more local governments, Obi secured the majority of votes cast.

All the 20 local government results have been declared, with Tinubu winning in 11 while Obi won in nine.




     

     

    Tinubu won in Agege, Apapa, Badagry, Epe, Ibeju-Lekki, Ifako-Ijaiye, Ikorodu, Lagos Island, Lagos Mainland, Surulere and Mushin.

    Obi, on the other hand, emerged victorious in Eti-Osa, Amuwo Odofin, Ikeja, Ajeromi-Ifelodun, Kosofe, Oshodi-Isolo, Alimosho, Ojo and Somolu.

    According to the State Returning Officer, Adenike Oladiji, Obi garnered 582,454 votes, while Tinubu secured 572,606 votes.

    The Peoples Democratic Party candidate, Atiku Abubakar, came in third with 75,750 votes.
