Corrupt Judges

The trial of Justice Adeniyi Ademola took a little twist on Tuesday when a prosecution witness told the court that President Muhammadu Buhari had given a gift of N500,000 to the accused person while he was still in charge of the alleged certificate forgery case brought against Buhari by Nnamdi Nwokocha-Ahaaiwe.

Charles Adeogun-Philips, the Federal Government special prosecutor in the ongoing corruption trial of Justice Sylvester Ngwuta of the Supreme Court has withdrawn from the case.

The Federal Government has filed fresh charges against Justices Sylvester Ngwuta of the Supreme Court and Adeniyi Ademola of the Federal High Court, Abuja, on allegations of false assets declaration.

As the trial of Justice Adeniyi Ademola, continued on Wednesday, a third witness, Ojima Etuh, told the court that she never received nor laundered gratifications on behalf of the federal high court Judge.

The trial of Sylvester Ngwuta, a Justice of the Supreme Court of Nigeria,resumed on Wednesday, at the federal high court, Abuja, with the first prosecuting witness telling the court how Ngwuta paid him a total of N313 million for the construction of three sets of buildings in different areas in Ebonyi State, including Abakiliki the state’s capital.

The trial of a Federal High Court judge, Adeniyi Ademola, resumed on Monday with the first prosecution witness narrating to the court how the third defendant, Joe Agi, a Senior Advocate of Nigeria bought a BMW luxury car for Ademola’s son.

Justice Adeniyi Ademola of the federal High Court, Abuja, has asked for an accelerated hearing into his ongoing corruption trial which had earlier been adjourned to January 18.

The Federal Government has arraigned Adeniyi Ademola, a judge of the Federal High Court in Abuja before a High Court of the Federal Capital Territory, Maitama on allegation of receiving bribes in the discharge of his duty as a judge.
