INEC’s national commissioner and chairman voter education committee,Solomon Soyebi, in a statement described the act as illegal, but added that the commission could not charge the Governor because he enjoys constitutional immunity.
The Kogi State governor,Yahaya Bello, has been accused of flouting the provisions of the Electoral Act by taking part in the ongoing Continuous Voter Registration, CVR, being carried out by the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, after having been registered before.
The organised labour cancelled this year’s celebration of workers’ day in Kogi State, in protest of the non-payment of workers’ salaries and pensions of retirees.
