AFROBEATS star Tiwa Savage has filed a petition against her colleague, David Adeleke, known as Davido, alleging a threat to her life.

Savage presented the petition to the Lagos state Commissioner of Police, accusing Davido of assault and serious bodily harm, in a message she shared on X.

According to her, Davido threatened her with texts containing insulting and demeaning comments after she shared a photo on her Instagram story of herself with one of his baby mamas, Sophia Momodu.

“I am writing to bring to your attention a distressing situation involving myself, Tiwatope Omolara Savage, popularly known as Tiwa Savage and Mr. David Adeleke, popularly known as Davido.

“On the 23rd of December, I made a post which included myself and Sophia Momodu on my Instagram Story- a feature on Instagram which allows you to put up a post for twenty-four hours, and Mr. David Adeleke sent messages to my manager, who’s also part of his management team that I shouldn’t worry and should never say a word to him and that I was taunting him, uttering very disrespectful, malicious and derogatory words to my person,” part of the petition reads.

She said she had reacted to his message by telling him to contact her because of their bond with his daughter.

However, she was told by some acquaintances that Davido was furious because of her friendship with Imade’s mother (Sophia Momodu).

Savage stated that the threat felt like some type of online and offline harassment to her and team members, and Davido’s activities were unethical and could be interpreted as a direct threat to her life.

“I, therefore, would like to make this complaint and to state that in the event that anything untoward or harmful were to happen to me or any member of my family, I will like the members of the Nigerian Police Force to hold Mr. David Adeleke responsible. I am available to answer any questions or provide any additional information regarding this matter.

“Please find attached screenshot images of the exchange between myself and Mr. David Adeleke for your perusal. Thank you in anticipation of your prompt response and attention to this matter,” the petition reads further.

The issue between the artistes started when they unfollowed each other on Instagram over the weekend, creating a buzz on social media.

After that, Tiwa Savage’s ex-husband, Teebillz called out Davido on Instagram, claiming he disrespected his family. Teebillz further noted that he was done trying to settle their matters behind closed doors and vowed to teach him a lesson.
