TWO persons have died in a road accident along Otedola Bridge, Lagos-Ibadan expressway, on Friday, less than 24 hours after a tanker explosion on the same bridge led to the death of nine persons, while 54 vehicles were destroyed.
A commercial bus (popularly known as Danfo) was said to have rammed into another vehicle while trying to escape from officials of the Lagos State Traffic Management Agency (LASTMA).
According to Rotimi Adebeshin, a witness to the accident, the commercial bus was reportedly driving against the traffic to avoid the gridlock caused by Thursday’s fire incident, when he was accosted by LASTMA officials.
Passersby and traffic officials helped to evacuate injured passengers in the two buses, which were nearly filled to capacity, to emergency centres.
PREMIUM TIMES observed at least 20 people injured in the accident.
The scene of yet another accident on the Otedola bridge …something is wrong we need to act fast or there might not be hope again…
