Minister of Information and Culture, Lai Mohammed, has again assured Nigerians that President Muhammadu Buhari was “hale and hearty” despite his letter to the National Assembly seeking an extension to his vacation in the United Kingdom.
The Minister was speaking with State House correspondents after Wednesday’s Federal Executive Council, FEC, meeting.
“Do you think we will be conducting our business like this if Mr. President is ill?” Mohammed asked.
“He (referring to the Minister of Power, Works and Housing, Babatunde Fashola) was in Anambra last week, I was in Kwara yesterday, all our ministers are busy doing their work. Mr. President is well and is absolutely not in danger,” he said.
“I can say without any hesitation that Mr. President is well, is hale and hearty. No question about that,” the Minister insisted.
Recall that just two days ago, acting President Yemi Osinbajo had told Nigerians that he spoke with President Buhari over the phone and he was very fine.
He however refused to disclose the President’s actual state of health, saying that only the President could do that.
Early Wednesday morning, news broke that President Buhari has authorized the acting President, Osinbajo to forward the name of Walter Onnoghen to the Senate for confirmation as the substantive chief Justice of Nigeria, CJN.
