AFRICA Alive, a global gathering of Havard University Africa’s alumni, has announced Nobel laureate Wole Soyinka, a professor, as the “distinguished speaker” at its 2024 conference.
The group, in a statement on Wednesday, October 2, signed by Tomas Felcman on behalf of Africa Alive! 2024 organising committee, said it was with immense pride and excitement that the group announced Soyinka as a distinguished VIP speaker at the conference.
The group said Africa Alive 2024 was an unprecedented gathering of Harvard’s alumni, faculty, and students passionate about Africa’s future.

“From his groundbreaking plays and poetry to his unwavering stance on human rights and freedom of expression, his impact on the world has been nothing short of monumental,“ said the committee.
According to the group, Soyinka will grace the event to offer his unparalleled insights, reflections, and stories at the event.
The group said Soyinka’s presence promises to transform Africa Alive! 2024 into an extraordinary and unforgettable experience.
“This is not just an opportunity to listen—it is a rare privilege to witness a titan of global culture in action,” it added.
It urged those attending to prepare to be captivated, challenged, and inspired “as they gathered to hear one of the greatest literary minds of our time.”
