APC presidential primary: ‘We want at least two names on each ballot paper’ – Official

The Election Management Committee of the All Progressives Congress (APC) Presidential Primary has said delegates are expected to write at least two names of their preferred candidate on the ballot.

A member of the committee, Oluseyi Oduntan stated this on Friday at the Eagle Square venue of the primary.

He also said those who could not write the name of their preferred aspirant in the party’s presidential primary would be helped.

“They are going to write the names of their preferred aspirant and they are going to put them in the ballot boxes which have been arranged there.

“Those who are unable to write or whatever incapacitation they have, we are going to get people from their state to write the name of the aspirant.

“But, most importantly, we want at least two names on each ballot paper. For example, there are some aspirants that Ahmed is common to them; we don’t want to have that mixed up. We are looking for at least two names on each ballot paper.”

Oduntan said the party had engaged relevant technology to prevent election fraud.

He said his committee and the party were ready for the exercise.

Meanwhile, 2,322 delegates would vote at the primary, out of which Kano State has 136 – the largest number of delegates, according to Oduntan.

He said the only condition that would prevent the election from holding was if the party came up with a consensus candidate.
