Ibe noted that Atiku will lead the PDP campaign train to mobilise the people of the state to cast their votes for the party’s governorship candidate, Ademola Adeleke.
The PDP flagbearer will also be at the forefront of moves to resolve the crisis that is trailing the selection of the party’s vice presidential candidate.
The camp of Rivers State governor Nyesom Wike is not happy with Atiku’s refusal to pick him as the running mate.
The ICIR reported that Chairman of the PDP Board of Trustees (BoT) Walid Jibrin, in a statement released on July 4, said the party will set up a reconciliation committee to be headed by Atiku
Jibrin, who appealed for calmness among party members over the choice of Delta State governor Ifeanyi Okowa as the party’s vice presidential candidate, said the issues would be resolved amicably as soon as Atiku return to the country.
Corroborating the BoT chairman’s comments, Ibe said, “Atiku will lead from the front once he arrives to reinvigorate and ensure the resolution of all the issues that arose following the conclusion of the nomination processes and it will all be addressed.”
The governorship election, which is scheduled for July 16, has the incumbent governor, Gboyega Oyetola of the All Progressives Congress (APC) and Adeleke of the PDP as the leading candidates.
