THERE have early reports of voter intimidation and relocation of polling units in the ongoing Governorship and House of Assembly elections in parts of Lagos State.

In one instance, thugs believed to be affiliated with the All Progressives Congress (APC) were caught on camera in the Fadeyi area of the state, asking voters to stay indoors if they would not vote for the APC.

Meanwhile, voters were reportedly chased away from a polling unit in the Sangotedo area by unknown assailants.

Elsewhere in the state, residents attempting to cast their votes at a polling unit in the VGC area were surprised to find that the unit had been relocated from where they had voted during the February 25 elections.

These incidents are a serious concern as they represent an infringement on citizens’ democratic rights to vote without fear or intimidation.
