A female suicide bomber on Tuesday detonated a bomb strapped to her body at a military checkpoint, killing herself and four others and injuring several others. Among the dead were two members of the youth vigilante group, Civilian-JTF.

The attack occurred at Sabon Gari, a remote village in Damboa local government area of Borno State.

A member of the vigilante group, Kaka Abdul, said everybody was taken unawares as nobody suspected that the lady, who alighted from a vehicle at the checkpoint had explosives strapped to her body.

“At about 10:30 am today (Tuesday) a female bombers that wrapped up explosive devices on her body exploded at a checkpoint killing four including two members of civilian JTF and injured many others,” Abdul said.

The attack is the second within 24 hours  in northern, as a suspected suicide bomber killed 25 and injured 32 in Zaria, Kaduna State on Monday.

It has been estimated that about 650 people have lost their lives to Bokoo Haram attacks since May 29 this year when President Muhammadu Buhari took over office and vowed to bring the insurgency to an end.
