The Nigerian military recorded major victories against plans by Boko Haram terrorists to wreak havoc before Christmas as a suicide bomber was killed in Gombe and improvised explosive devices, IED, makers were arrested in Kano State.
In Kano, security forces raided the hideout of terrorists in Nasarawa local government where an unspecified number of bomb making experts were arrested.
A statement by the defence spokesman, Chris Olukolade, a Major General, said that the arrested men were being interrogated and might be able to throw some light on recent bombing incidents.
And in Gombe, soldiers at a checkpoint in Bajoga on Tuesday killed a suicide bomber who tried to escape after he failed in his mission failed.
The suicide bomber had rammed his Honda car into a military check point but the bombs packed in his car failed to detonate. He was brought down after subsequently trying to escape from the scene of the incident.
The explosives have since been evacuated and handed over to the police.
