
The federal government has announced Thursday, October 1, as public holiday to mark Nigeria’s 55th Independence Day celebration.
A statement signed by Yusuf Isiaka, the director of press on behalf of the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Interior, Abubakar Magaji, and made available to journalists on Monday confirmed the declaration by the government.

Magaji congratulated Nigerians both at home and abroad and appreciated them for backing President Muhammadu Buhari to build a peaceful, united and virile nation.
While celebrating the nation’s independence, the permanent secretary urged Nigerians to use the occasion to pray for peace and unity of the country.
