Osun guber poll: Sorting, counting of votes commence


SORTING and counting of votes has started in the Osun State governorship election.

The ICIR reports that about 1,955,657 voters in 3,763 polling units are expected to cast their vote in the election.

Officers of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) started sorting and counting of votes at around 3:00 pm in most of the polling units visited by The ICIR’s reporters.

Voting ended around 3:00 pm at Polling Unit 06, Ward 01 of Irepodun Local Government Area (LGA).

At Unit 05, Ward 01, Irepodun LGA, sorting of votes started few minutes after voting ended.

In Osun Central, The ICIR observed that sorting g and counting of votes have started at about 3:00 pm in some polling units even as people were still casting their votes in some other centres.




     

     

    At about 3;15 pm, the result of votes cast was announced in a polling unit at Aderin Junction, Aderin Area, Olorunda Local Government Area, Osogbo.

    Sorting and counting of ballot papers has also commenced in several other polling units across the state.

    The Osun State governorship election is being contested by 15 candidates.

    Accreditation and voting commenced simultaneously around 8:00 am.
