Randy Waldrum resigns as Super Falcons coach

SUPER Falcons coach, Randy Waldrum has issued a resignation letter to the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF), leaving his role as the women team’s coach.

According to the 67-year-old American in a letter dated September 12, 2024, he made the decision as a result of his wife’s health issues.

“It’s been a very difficult few weeks following the Olympics, with my wife’s health issues, and the worries that obviously come with that.

“After much thought and consideration, I am hereby resigning my position as Head Coach of the Super Falcons. This will allow the NFF ample time to find the next manager to take over this incredible squad, he stated in parts of the letter.

Waldrum was appointed as the Nigeria’s female team head coach in 2020 three years after he turned down the initial offer.

In 2017, he was offered the role of the team’s technical adviser of which he turned down the offer.

However in 2020, he took the offer as the team’s head coach of which he led the team to qualify for the 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup where the Super Falcons reached the Round of 16.
