Sanwo-Olu has abandoned governance for Tinubu’s campaign – Adegboruwa

A SENIOR Advocate of Nigeria, Ebun-Olu Adegboruwa, has accused the Lagos State Governor,  Babajide Sanwo-Olu, of abandoning governance in the state for the 2023 presidential aspiration of Ahmed Bola Tinubu.

Adegboruwa said this in a statement seen on Saturday, June 11, 2022 by The ICIR.

Since Tinubu won the All Progressives Congress (APC) presidential primary on Tuesday, Sanwo-Olu has virtually been seen with him in every of his visit to other presidential aspirants in the party.

Reacting, Adegboruwa accused the Lagos State governor of making himself Tinubu’s unofficial campaign manager “instead of attending to serious state business begging for attention.”

While commending the recent ban on commercial motorcycle operation in certain areas of the state, Adegboruwa noted that the ban needed Sanwo-Olu’s active presence for effective implemention.

“It was the Governor that declared the ban on motorbikes but he is not on the ground to monitor the daily crisis occasioned by the declaration. Though commendable, it needs careful enforcement.

“The rainy season in Lagos is always a bitter experience for Lagosians in flooding, heavy traffic and other casualties, but the Governor has not been on his seat to address issues related to this. Crime has been on the increase in Lagos lately,” the lawyer stated.

He alleged Lagos State’s resources would be involved in Tinubu’s campaign activities, and it was not unlikely government officials would cash in on the absence of the governor to also abandon their responsibilities to pursue their personal interests.

He warned there would be “grave consequences attendant upon the governor’s decision to abdicate his constitutional responsibilities in pursuit of the political ambition of the APC presidential flag bearer.”

He appealed to Sanwo-Olu to return to the state and assume his constitutional responsibilities of functional governance, stressing that he was not elected as the campaign manager of politicians but as an administrator.
