The Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, has commenced distribution of non-sensitive materials for the Edo State governorship election scheduled to hold on September 10.
The embattled chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Ali Modu-Sheriff, has issued a Certificate of Return to Matthew Aighuhuenze for the forthcoming governorship election in Edo state despite a Federal High Court judgement in Port Harcourt on Monday, July 4 that sacked his faction of the party.
Police have cordoned off the entrance to the Samuel Ogbemudia Stadium, Benin City, which was the venue scheduled to hold the Governorship Primary of the Ali Modu-Sheriff faction of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP on Wednesday.
The independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, will next week decide on which of the two factions of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, it will recognize.
