
The Kogi State Election Tribunal has upheld the election of Dino Melaye of the All Progressive Congress as winner of the Kogi West Senatorial district following a verdict in Lokoja on Monday.
Melaye’s victory in the April 28 election was challenged by his predecessor and Peoples Democratic Party candidate, Smart Adeyemi.

Adeyemi’s petition which had earlier been dismissed before on a technical ground that it was filed out of time was ordered by the Federal Appeal court’s Justice Muhammed Adume to be reheard.
But Monday’s ruling delivered by Justice Akon Ikpeme upheld Melaye’s victory and struck out Adeyemi’s petition for lack of merit.
