The Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, on Sunday, announced Baba Kaka Garbai of the All Progressives Congress, APC, as the winner of Saturday’s bye election for the Borno Central Senatorial seat.
The returning officer for the election, Professor Muhammmed Fannami, declared APC’s candidate winner having scored the majority of votes cast with 75 per cent, while closest challenger, Kaka Bolori of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP garnered 20 percent of the votes.
In the announced results, the APC polled 120,639 votes; PDP 32,346 votes; Kowa Party 1,042; APGA 334; PPA 136; PPN 79 and SDP 660 votes.
Upon hearing the election’s outcome, Bolori rejected the declared result, alleging massive rigging by the ruling APC.
