Ekiti guber poll: Voters in Ado-Ekiti polling unit resist vote buying

VOTERS in Polling Unit 001 in Ado-Ekiti have resisted attempts by political party agents to induce them with cash in the ongoing governorship election in Ekiti State.

The ICIR observed that party agents made attempts to offer cash to induce the voters to vote for their candidates.

But the moves were resisted by the voters who have queued up to vote in the polling unit.

“We are not ready to prepare soup, so, we won’t vote because of soup. No vote-buying.



“We are sure and determined about it. No more votes for soup”, one of the voters said.

However, The ICIR observed vote buying and inducement in some other parts of Ekiti state.




     

     

    The ICIR had earlier reported that some Ekiti teachers received the sum of N3,000 from the ruling party in the state, All Progressives Congress (APC), ahead of the poll.

    In Polling Unit 005, Ward 3, Oye II, residents alleged that APC agents were offering cash for votes.

    The ICIR also observed that party agents were paying some voters to vote for their candidates at Polling Unit 005, Ward 3, Oye II, Oye-Ekiti.

    It was also observed that the party agents were paying voters through online transfers.
