BENITO Bello, the teenage son of Abdulrasheed Bello, professional known as JJC Skillz, has opened up about his father’s failed marriage to his second wife, actress Funke Akindele.
The 17-year-old son of the music executive and director, who had once accused his father of physical assault, gloated at the separation after the senior Bello confirmed the marriage crash in an Instagram post.
Benito wrote, “I spoke the truth mehn,” under his Instagram stories.
Bello, who confirmed the collapse of his marriage to the star of the TV soap, ‘Jenifa’, early this morning in an Instagram post, stated that life had been difficult for him in the past two years.
The couple got married in May 2016 and welcomed their set of twins in 2018.
Bello noted that he and Funke Akindele had been unable to settle the disagreement between them in the past three months, adding that they were only together at the last Africa Magic Viewer’s Choice Awards (AMVCA) on May 14.
He wrote, “Dear friends and family, I need to let you know that Funke and I have separated. While it lasted, we shared a lot of things together and have created 2 beautiful children. The last two years have been extremely difficult for us. I know I have tried my best to fix things but I believe it is beyond repair now.
“3 months ago and at Funke’s insistence I moved out of the house and apart from AMVCA have not been able to get Funke to sit down in an amicable manner to discuss the future of our relationship. I’m making this announcement so that the public is clear that we both are pursuing separate lives.
“We still have issues that need to be addressed such as the custody and wellbeing of our children which is paramount as well as business interests which need to be disentangled but I have no doubt that these will be resolved one way or the other.”
Benito, who is the rapper’s first child, had alleged that the actress cheated on his father and disrespected him severally.
He also shared that his father and stepmother had not been sleeping together in the same room, and had also not been together for two years.
Some of the truths on assault were corroborated by the first wife of the music executive, Mello, who is abroad.
“While you parade yourself on social media pretending with fake piety to be the main character in an aspirational story, the son that you assaulted and inflicted grievous bodily harm upon is still recovering from his physical injuries and mental trauma,” Mello once wrote.
In 2020, the couple were convicted and fined N100,000 each for flouting the Lagos State Infectious Disease (Emergency Prevention) Regulation 2020.
They had held a party with other celebrities on the event of JJC Skillz’ birthday, an incident that not only generated the ire of the government, but also that of other Nigerians, who accused them for flouting COVID-19 guidelines.
